Finding Time to Exercise

Don’t have enough time to exercise?
Neither do I. It’s finding the time that’s the trick. Why bother? For obvious reasons of feeling and looking your healthiest.
If you want to include exercise into your lifestyle but have been struggling, try an easier approach. Exercise time doesn’t have to mean an hour of weight lifting at the gym or a two mile run. Getting fit can be more simple and less time consuming.
How? Mini-workouts
A 10 minute jog or 100 tummy crunches goes a long way. Even a 15 minute walk around the block or some arm, shoulder, and chest crunches with hand weights while you’re watching the morning news can be a nice mini-workout. And how about including some yoga for total body, mind and spirit health? Joanne DeVito of Yoga Adventures advises, “Include just two yoga postures a day for some good stretching and build from there if you’d like. Start with the more challenging posture of the two and finish with your favorite one for a treat.”
When I’m running here or there, a 20 minute workout three to four times a week sustains me if that’s all the time I can find. I usually focus on major body parts for 5 minutes…legs, upper body, abs and derriere. With this as the goal, I can maintain flexibility and tone and then slip in a longer workout when I want to.
How about you? Can you get creative and incorporate mini-workouts into your day?
It goes without saying that you should consult your doctor about any exercise routine. But, I know the experts agree on one thing. Any exercise time is better than none if you want to get on the road to being fit and healthy.
If you can’t get in a maxi workout, a mini is your next best thing.

You’ve heard of cleansing your body with detoxing diets and supplements? Well, I do my own form of body housekeeping one day every week. On Monday, it’s Vegan Day for me and I rarely miss it.
Why? Because I want to give my body whole foods filled with lots of great vitamins, minerals, antioxidants. You know all the stuff we hear about these days. So I eat foods derived from the plant world and forgo meats, dairy, sugar and, it goes without saying, any processed foods only for one day.
That means I get my fill of greens, fruits (natural sugars are okay), tofu, beans, legumes and grains (whole grains….nothing “white”). A typical day starts off with Read more
