When Things Change, Go With the Flow or “What do I do with the radio show?”

solstice_4_bg_061903Changes to my radio show this week have prompted me to change too. Since December 2009, Bloom Talk has aired online on the Her Insight network but a few days ago, Her Insight postponed all live production for several weeks. Its changing its online presence and announced a “transition phase” to improve programming.

This stinks for me. What do I do now? My content this year has largely been the radio show and now I have to change gears fast… and think. Links of past shows on my website are temporarily out of service and I’ll have to juggle things around. Questions pop up all around me. Should I wait it out and continue on with the show? Change to a different format? Do something new? And what about you listeners? How can I keep providing the content that you want?

Funny how what you’re thinking may actually happen. I have another project on the table - too soon to mention - and was just wondering how I can take a hiatus from the show. Take a break, a breather. Don’t we all wish that from time to time? And here is my wish come true.

But, I want to keep moving forward and Make It Happen. After all, this is one of my Seeds for Success. However, I know some things can’t be forced. Sometimes you just have to accept the things you can’t change. According to Lao Tzu, “Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them – that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”

I think about this and intuitively know that I can’t make things happen all the time. No one can. Sometimes, I just have to go with the flow. By accepting and allowing, I can continue to move forward - less forced, less stressed. A way to Make it Happen without having to do anything other than navigating the path I’m on.

Now, I’m toying with the idea of changing the name of the last success “seed. ” To continue to spell the Bloom acronym B-L-O-O-M, the last seed has to start with the letter “M.” Hmmm. Why not call it Move Forward instead of Make it Happen? It sounds more like life. When things happen - and they always do - learning to go with the flow while continuing to move forward will help anyone to keep blooming. Even me.

Stay tuned as I go with the flow, update my website and move forward with Bloom Talk.

(pre-recorded)

Sandi has been writing fiction since she was six years old and figured out that she could make money selling stories to the neighbors so she could get money for the ice cream man. She grew up, got married then got a divorce and onto a job writing news for a local weekly newspaper.

Sandi then he started writing a weekly column about her life as a single working mom and people started calling it a “humor column” which led her to write “You Might As Well Laugh: Surviving the Joys of Parenthood.” “Sleeping through the Night…and Other Lies” followed and was the only book about parenthood that offered virtually no advice whatsoever that could ever help a new parent.

After free-lancing for magazines, Sandi realized that what she’d really always wanted since she was six was to make up lies about fictitious people and put them in books and buy banana popsicles. Whenever there wasn’t a carpool to run, or a load of laundry to throw in, she could be found tapping away on her laptop on a novel. A mere seventeen years from the date she’d started it, “What Comes After Crazy” was published in 2005. “A Piece of Normal” and “Kissing Games of the World” soon followed.

Sandi Kahn Shelton takes us on her fabulous journey to follow her dream and inspires budding writers and dreamers alike to follow your dreams too!
